Multi-axis vs robotic screwing - how to choose by capacity

When planning a fastening line, multi-axis and robotic screwing are two common schemes. The core trade-off is "capacity" vs "flexibility".

Multi-axis screwing

Multiple axes work simultaneously: extremely fast takt, precise positioning. Ideal for single-product, high-volume, fixed-point scenarios, with a relatively compact footprint.

Robotic screwing

A robot carries the fastening unit across points: high flexibility, wide reach. Ideal for multi-variety, large or dispersed-point products; changeover is mainly program-based.

How to choose

  • Single product, high volume, max takt: multi-axis.
  • Multi-variety, large parts, dispersed points: robot.
  • Budget and footprint matter too; hybrid layouts are possible.

Evaluate against capacity goals and product mix to avoid "affordable but awkward to use".
